Located in Montgomery, Alabama, Alabama State University’s sports teams have used a logo that has changed very little since 1999.
Context and meaning

The initials “ASU” and a hornet make up the official logo for the Alabama State Hornets.
Just by virtue of the amount of real estate they take up, the letters are the most prominent feature of the logo. However, the stark contrast between the hornet’s vivid coloration and depth perception makes them appear to recede into the background.
There’s a hornet in the sky, and it seems like it’s taking off from the middle of the “U” Its dark eyes and delicate paws are in full view. On the Alabama State Hornets logo, the creature’s muzzle has a threatening look. The “A” has a sharp edge to the horizontal bar, “rhyming” with the insect’s body.
The Alabama State Hornets football

The collegiate football programme began in 1901 and competes in the Football Championship Subdivision of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. New ASU Stadium, was inaugurated in November 2012, is where its home games are held.
Basketball of the Alabama State Hornets

The university has men’s and women’s basketball teams that play in the SWAC. Lewis Jackson, who is in his 14th season as head coach as of the 2019 season, has been in that role since 2005.
