The significance and the past
The year 1990 marked the beginning of the Roxy brand’s rich history. What exactly is Roxy?
Quiksilver, which was established in 1990, is the company that created the Roxy brand of women’s clothes. The business sells apparel that is made for those that live active lives and participate in extreme sports. The first line of merchandise that was ever produced by the brand was a swimwear and surfwear collection. Today, Roxy caters to a broad variety of sporting activities and has its clothing sold in a variety of countries across the world.
It is vital to explain the logotype that is used by Roxy’s sibling brand, Quiksilver, in order to have an understanding of the Roxy logo. Two elements combine to form the Quiksilver logo: a wave breaking on the shore and a mountain topped with snow. The Roxy logo may, at first sight, seem to be nothing more than a stylised representation of a heart. Two different variations of the Quiksilver logo, one of which is a regular version and the other of which is a mirrored version, are placed next to one another to form the shape of a heart. The font that is selected for the Roxy logo is one that is friendly and uncomplicated. All of the letters are written in lowercase and italic style. The wordmark does not have a very distinctive appearance; yet, it does have a distinguishing characteristic, which is that the gap between the letters is considerably greater than is typical. The alternative form of the logo uses a sans-serif typeface that is capitalised throughout but does not use italics.
The colour magenta, which is used for the insignia, helps to provide a cheery and girly atmosphere. In comparison to it, the grey wordmark may not seem to be very apparent; yet, it is classy and sophisticated. You also have the option of presenting the logo in a monochromatic format.
