Chad Harley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim were all employees at PayPal at the same time, and they were the ones who came up with the idea for YouTube. 2011 — 2013

The flattening of the insignia resulted in it taking on a more professional appearance, which in turn evoked feelings of self-assurance and stability.

2013 — 2015


In 2013, the colour palette was altered once again, this time to a brighter one; nevertheless, the red portion of the logo was simplified and made into a flat shape. In this iteration, the “Tube” component does not have an outline or a shadow. Despite its unadorned appearance, it has evolved into something that is both powerful and sophisticated.

2015 — 2017


The revision that took place in 2015 made the red element deeper again, while the composition and typography of the logotype stayed the same. However, along with the change in colour, there was also a shift in the atmosphere, as the emblem now seemed elegant and serious.

2017 — Today


In 2017, YouTube debuted a new logo idea, and it was about this time that the icon that we are all familiar with today first emerged. The logotype with “Y” and “T” capitalised is still produced in the same sans-serif font; however, now both portions are written in black and set on a white backdrop, to the right of a red insignia. This change was made in order to differentiate the two elements of the logo. The new logo retained the familiar form of a rounded rectangle that was placed horizontally, but in its place, the previous writing was replaced with a white triangle that was oriented to the right and resembled the “Play” button.



The current iteration, identical to all of the others that came before it, has a black “You” and a white “Tube” superimposed over a red “antique TV screen.” After having the “curved” shadings removed, the section of the screen in question now seems to be fully flat.

The emblem, much like the standard YouTube logo, has been through a number of iterations of change. The name of the project was shown in two lines in the first editions, but since 2011 the symbol has included a play button instead of the name of the project. The font, which is rather similar to Indecise Condensed Medium, an additional well-known type, is used by a large number of well-known brands and businesses.


The symbol with the red and white stripes has quickly become one of the most well-known graphical insignia that has ever been designed. Even though there is absolutely nothing novel about the YouTube symbol, when taken as a whole, the components of the logo combine to form an impressive and captivating picture.

In 2017, the whole brand had a significant overhaul, and its symbol, which had previously been composed of white writing on a red backdrop, was transformed into a geometric and hip design. The website caters specifically to viewing and downloading movies, as shown by the presence of a large, bright red “Play” button to the left of the business name. The figure still has the shape of a rounded rectangle, but its dimensions are more condensed compared to those of earlier iterations of the logo.


The only thing that can be seen is a little white triangle set against a backdrop that is completely crimson. An accurate representation of the service’s goals, priorities, and core principles. The colour combination stands for authority and power, while the orientation of the triangle, which points to the right, conveys progression and progress.
